Vote for the Mayor and London Assembly on Thursday 6 May 2021

Voting by proxy

If you cannot vote in person on polling day, you can ask someone to do it on your behalf. This is called voting by proxy.

Your proxy should be someone you trust, and who knows who you want to vote for.

Your proxy can be anyone as long as they are registered and eligible to vote in the same election. They can go to a polling station to vote, or apply to vote for you by post.

To apply to vote by proxy, you need to complete a paper form giving a reason why you cannot get to your polling station and send it to your local Electoral Registration Office.

  • The deadline to apply for a new proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday 27 April 2021
  • The deadline to apply to use a proxy vote by post is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021

To change or cancel an existing proxy vote, you need to contact your local Electoral Registration Office

  • The deadline for changes to an existing proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday 20 April 2021

In limited circumstances, you can apply for an emergency proxy vote up to 5pm on polling day.
