London Elects launched the first wave of advertisements
to raise awareness of voter registration this week.
The aim of the adverts is to get as many eligible voters in
London on the electoral register as possible.
The ads, which will be appearing on the sides of buses, in bus
shelters and in local newspapers, are part of a joint campaign with
The Electoral Commission.
Initially the campaign will target groups who tend to have low
levels of registration. London has the lowest levels of voter
registration in the country, with nearly 18% of residents missing
from the register in some parts of the capital, compared to an
average of just 7% across England and Wales.
The second wave of advertising will focus on providing clear and
helpful information on how to vote. This will be aimed at all
Londoners.
If you want to register, download a registration form or contact your local borough
council.
