A change for the better

The Challenge

London is a wonderful, cosmopolitan city with so much to offer. It is little wonder that so many come to live and work here each year. But for all of London’s qualities, life for those who live here is getting harder. Londoners feel less safe on the streets as thuggish behaviour and violent crime increase. Our transport system is choking, so that people spend more of their precious day stuck on the way to work or home. It costs more and more to live here, and taxpayers no longer get value for money.

The Solution

London needs a new Mayor. I put myself forward for this job because I have the energy and fresh thinking to turn the tide on our problems with crime, transport, housing and the local environment.

My plan to change London for the better includes the following:

  • Beef up the police presence on our streets by increasing police numbers and cutting red tape at the Metropolitan Police Service
  • Implement serious strategies on knife and gun crime and arm the police with handheld weapon scanners
  • Crack down on the culture of casual disorder that leads to more serious crime, with live CCTV on buses and a community service scheme for young people who abuse free travel
  • Make transport safer by putting more uniformed officers on buses and station platforms
  • Protect our green, open spaces and encourage more recycling across the boroughs
  • Scrap the proposed £25 congestion charge and make the existing system fairer and more flexible
  • Work in partnership with local councils to build the homes that people want and can afford
  • Stretch the taxpayer pound to give Londoners more bang for their buck and axe the waste and overspending at City Hall.

I am serious about making London safer, protecting our green spaces and giving the taxpayer value for money – and I have the ideas to do it. Now I need your help to get to City Hall and make these things happen. Please come out to vote on May 1st – the future of London depends on it.
